Bloomsburg Softball Sweeps Kutztown

KUTZTOWN--The Bloomsburg University softball team swept a pair of games on Friday from division leading Kutztown by scores of 5-2 and 4-1.

In game one Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) drove in three runs with Danielle Lazorka (Williamsport/Jersey Shore) bringing home the other two runs to lead Bloomsburg to win. Sidisky got the Huskies on the board with a two-run double in the fourth inning and made it 3-0 with an RBI double in the sixth. After the Golden Bears trimmed the deficit to 3-2 with two runs in the home sixth, Bloomsburg got two insurance runs in the seventh when Lazorka singled in Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) and Tiff Corliss (Lewisburg/Lewisburg).

Ashley Lynn (Riverside/Danville) got the win allowing six hits and two runs.

In the nightcap, Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) drove in two runs with a homer in the first inning, while Lacy Mauro (Jersey Shore/Jersey Shore) singled home two runs in the seventh to lead the Huskies to the victory. Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) picked up the win by scattering seven hits and striking out four. Mauro finished 3-4 with a run scored and two RBI.

Bloomsburg improves to 36-7, 11-5 in the PSAC East, while Kutztown falls to 38-8, 15-3 in the PSAC East. The Huskies host Shippensburg on Saturday at 1 p.m.
